To ensure that Singapore’s precious land is well utilised and the structures are safely built, smart technologies such as modelling and simulation are used in the planning and construction of the cityscape.
One example was the construction of the new #DowntownLine – with so many prexisting lines, the underground space was already very congested. “At some stretches, the gap between the new and old train tunnels was a mere one metre. It was so close that if you reached over from the new tunnels, you could pluck a passenger from a passing train!” said Chang Kin Boon, a project director at @LTAsg.
Using extensive data collected by smart technologies, LTA engineers were able to generate settlement prediction models and assess the tunnelling-related risks.

Visiting my in-laws today but instead of taking 34 or 118, we planned to try the alternative route - by Downtown Line. 1st time ah naik so maciam abit jakun.
The train interior also maciam smaller ah compared to other trains or is it aku yang jadi makin besar?
Tapi Alhamdulillah la, it was a smooth train ride.
