Have you been on the #MailRail yet? 🚂💨 From 1927 to 2003 the Post Office delivered post to the sorting offices across #London by a driverless #underground train. Now, part of the 10.5km tunnel is re-opened by @thepostalmuseum with new trains transporting visitors along to two of the platforms with some wonderful visual history lessons at each stop. Another fascinating insight into #UndergroundLondon 🚇 A London must see for all the family 💯 #SecretLondon
One hundred years ago, the Post Office built a secret railway under central London. The driverless electric line carried up to four million letters a day. But in 2003, after 75 years of service, this wonder of engineering was shut down.
Now the Mail Rail is back in service – but this time-two battery-powered trains will take passengers through the tunnels for the first time as the Mail Rail reopens as part of the brand new Postal Museum. #postalmuseum#mailrail#fun#secretlondon#secretrailway
