Refugees are taking increasingly desperate journeys trying to reach Europe, risking their lives in search of safety.
Our new report documents changes in these routes, and calls for greater access to resettlement, family reunification and asylum in European countries.
Our data shows refugees - many of whom are women and children - are still attempting varied and dangerous crossings to Italy, Greece and Spain in recent months.
Despite an overall reduction of crossings, thousands continue to make perilous journeys to Europe. An estimated 3,000 people have died or gone missing at sea and another 57 known to have died along land routes in Europe.
The report also underlines the difficult situation of many women and girl victims of trafficking and of the more than 15,200 unaccompanied and separated children who have arrived in Europe so far this year.
We continue to call for greater access to safe and legal pathways, such as resettlement and family reunification, to Europe, and for additional resettlement places requested last September for refugees located in 15 priority countries along the Central Mediterranean route.
