The cure!! Well...part of a cure for a bum Achilles. In 2015 and 2016 I struggled with Achilles tendinosis. For me, shockwave (aka EPAT) was the most beneficial treatment and this was the most beneficial exercise. Even though my Achilles is healthy now 🙌🏻, I still do this exercise 3x per week along with other eccentric exercises.
Eccentric heel drops on a leg press machine. 180 pounds, 2 sets of 10 with a straight leg and 2 sets of 10 with a bent knee. I work up from 90 pounds at the beginning of the year up to 250 pounds during the summer. Down with 1 leg, hold for a second or two, up with 2 legs (at the start of the video, I am working my right leg, dropping down with weight only on the right then using my left to help press up). Make sure you are dropping your heel past neutral.
