Now on view at Sunset Cliffs State Park until it wilts (which will happen sooner than later in this heat)! It is collapsable, therefore easily transportable, and sustainable. The poles are bamboo and it is tied together with hemp rope. Wrapping around it are rows of hemp twine covered in eucalyptus, bougainvilleas, juniper, and rosemary collected from my neighborhood. I found the bamboo poles and carpet in different alleyways near my house. .
🌴It's kind of silly and I feel ridiculous saying it out loud but I named it Bowerbabe Temple because it's a temple for nature and reminds me of how male bowerbirds build a structure and decorate it with sticks and brightly colored objects in an attempt to attract a mate. I'm not a male so I called it bowerbabe (girls I know have been calling each other 'babe' a lot lately) and although I am not trying to attract a mate with it, it does look pretty romantic.
. 🌹Thank you @littledameshop for supporting the project and @isosemaj for inspiring me to make something new. Thank you @yvonzing for helping me make it and @peptalks and @jonnyalexander for being in my photos. .
🦅My sketch of the original idea is at the end of this photo series.
