It was his colourful display of rugs outside his temporary shop that got me curious. I was on my way back to my corporate gig during my lunch hour. I walked in and he told me stories of the #artisans
of Afghanistan who used boiled bark to create the various colours of the textiles and that each Kilim rug took about 4 months to handweave (depending on size). I bought 2! ✨
The bag I discovered in my fave shopping space in Sri Lanka - Barefoot. An art/cafe/shop space filled with colour, texture and handloomed textiles if you come at the right time the space is filled with live music.
The Kuchi jewels I also bought in Sri Lanka from a vintage market but tell stories of tribes that wandered the border areas of Afghanistan & Pakistan. This particular piece I bought specifically to restore - it was too beautiful to be left behind!
