Mark 6:31. Since we prioritize working and staying busy, many of us do not get enough rest and relaxation becsuse we believe that resting is a waste of time, and we value fast paced and hectic lifestyles full of responsibilities. While we need to work, we also need to make sure we rest because God never intended us to be overworked since He gives us the Sabbath for only rest. Jesus obviously understood the many benefits of resting because He instructed the disciples to go off by themselves and rest. God wants us to get adequate rest because resting helps us to recharge our emotions, refocus our thoughts, and relax our bodies. Resting eases and releases our stress and anxiety while calming our minds and emotions. Resting allows us to remove all the external distractions we normally have when we are busy and focus all of our thoughts on God. When we are resting, we are still so that we are more in tune with God and can listen for His voice of guidance as we reconnect with Him. Finally, resting keeps us from being too exhausted and burned out so that we can always perform at our best for God. Resting and relaxation are very important to our overall health, so we should prioritize it in our lives and always take advantage of the day of rest God gives us every week.
